“Our geothermal unit was installed in July of 2008. While we have only had our unit a short period of time, we have already noticed several advantages. The largest advantage that we have noticed so far is cost. Where we live the only source of gas available is propane. Around June we received a notice from our gas company that we would need to spend approximately $170 a month for 10 months to cover our gas costs. Since we have had our unit installed our electric bills have been: July $71.70 August $94.13 September $121.19 October $99.20 November $65.48 December $70.30 Our house is around 2300 square feet. (Not too bad considering we would be spending $170 a month in addition to the typical electric costs.) In addition to this, our unit is very quiet-you don’t ever know when it is on or off. Installing the geothermal lines does tear up your yard, however once it is complete and the dirt is filled in it is not too bad.
